Ana Duskmere Call to Adventure

She always sensed his presence. If she thought hard enough she could even remember as a toddler laying in her bed and being fascinated by the orb of light that hovered over her, just out of reach. As she grew she became less aware of his presence, but he was still always there; watching, guiding, protecting.

As an adult she found herself very protective of others. Things were always black and white, no middle ground; things were either right or wrong and would do her best to correct things for those who needed help. Despite her acute awareness of right and wrong, she tended not to always make the best of decisions and would often find herself and bad situations simply because she knew had had to step in even when she did not have the resources to help her back up her stance. Time and time again she would find herself in situations that were not the safest for her, but for some unknown reason she would come out, unscathed.

Until that night. She was hanging out with some friends when she notice a commotion on the other side of the bar. It was a dispute, over exactly what she was not sure, but she just sensed that the target of the turmoil was innocent. As usual she jumped in without thought for herself to try to help the young girl. Before she knew it the group of girls attacking the innocent one all turned their attention to her. No sooner than she thought this will not end well, things went black.

Time passed, how much, she was not sure. All she knew was she was at home on her couch, with a throbbing headache. All of a sudden she saw that familiar orb from her childhood. She thought at first it had to just be the result of her getting hit in the head. As she reached out and tried to touch it, the orb darted over to the chair opposite her. It grew in size and intensity until the light disappeared and in it's place sitting on the chair sat a very tired and flustered looking guardian angel.

"Ana, I've about had my fill of you" he chuckled. "I had no idea when I took you on to protect all those years ago how much work you would be." Smiling and somewhat surprised that she did not seems to be unnerved by his appearance he inquired of her "You know who I am don't you?" She simply said "Yes." Laughing he said "You have always been quite the intuitive mortal. But let me riddle you this, do you know why I am appearing to you?" She pondered the question but all she could do was shake her head no.

"Well, as I said you are quite the hand full to look after. You alone are a full time job to protect. But it is not your actions ultimately that have caught the attention of myself and the Elders. It is your heart. You have the heart of an angel. So it is not just the matter of you wearing me out keeping you away from all those situations you find yourself in, it is the reason you end up in them. I am here to offer you the ability to do what it is you want to do but cannot as a simple mortal. I am here to offer you the opportunity to become and angel." He then chuckled "Of course it benefits me too by getting me a much needed rest if you accept this offer."

As always without a thought she shouted "YES." The angel smiled "Your quick response is no surprise to me, come along." He then wrapped his huge wings around her and then in an instant they were in heaven. "You will be a different type of angel than I am, you see I was created as an angle, but you are a mortal that will be transcended to become an angel. This means that you will walk among mortals, protecting them, blessing them, helping them just by being in there presence. They will see you, they will interact with you but they will not know what it is you do for them. Do you understand?" She immediately said, "Yes, I want to do this."

So he began the process of transcendence explaining again that she must not physically intervene with the mortals only quietly help from a distance. Hoping that she really understood even though she claimed to. Then came the moment for her to declare her Domain. Ana inquired of the angel what domain she should choose. He looked at her and laughed "Have you ever heard of the saying 'Discretion is the greater part of valor?' I think you would it would be best for you to be within the domain of Valor, because maybe you can finally learn some discretion as it applied to your actions." She understood the humor of his statement, winking at him she simply said "Then Valor it is."
