Demon · Task F

Getting the Scroll

by BrielleEmilia Melodious · 27 November 2021

Brielle left the castle and chambers of the Hell's Commander as she looked down at the notes she took that told her of her task. The meeting with the Hell's Commander and Arch Midori seemed to have gone rather well. She unfurled her large black and red wings from her back, taking off into the sky above. There were many parts to her task. She knew this was likely gonna take alot of time and effort. She sighed softly, Not like anything came easy here. Not like it should be otherwise either...She continued to read her scroll. "Okie..so a legendary sword, that has been sealed by the Empyrean Reaper." She sighed. If Sator Tasha didn't want it open. Bri knew this was gonna be rough. She put the scroll into her pockets and walked over to the skilling platform for her horde. Her heels clinking as she walked. She rounded up a bunch of Ink and parchment and sat at the inscription table and proceeded to write a large amount of reflects and flames, She knew she would need them handy for her task. Her pen worked quickly across the scroll, messing up a few time she tossed those to the side and groaned.

Once she had finished writing her spells, she made her way over to the fields and wrapped her small hands around the roots tugging as they gave way to her tugs. She repeated this til she had gathered 10 or more of them. She pulled everything she had gathered so far into a satchel. Pulling out the scroll she looked again "Okay so 1ml...of sulphur... 5 grams of Ash from the hottest volcano and 30 pints of brightness..." She sighed knowing she had barely touched the surface of this task so far. She placed it back into her bag and thought of where she could grab the remainder of things she needed. She smiled and chuckled a bit as she thought of what the mortals refered to hell as....Fire and brimstone. The mortals weren't really wrong there. She smirked a bit and knew hell would be the best place to start to look for these things.

She unfurled her wings once more and made her way down into the depth of hell. She landed on a cliffs edge and scanned the area. Noticing her brothers and sisters skilling and doing assorted activites in hell per usual. She walked over to a brimstone and pulled out her pick-axe striking it with all her might a few times. It took a bit of effort but she saw the sulphur crystals fall in bits at her feet. She grinned pulling a vial from her bag that was 1ml she scooped the sulphur into the vial to the top before corking it and placing it into her bag. Okay! Another ingredient down... what was the next one?.... Ash... She paused and tried to figure out how she would get that since nothing in hell really burned...She pursed her lips before getting an idea. She flew closer to the lava pits as she kneeled down and sheered part of her sleeve of her mortal made clothing. Since it was from the human realm it would burn. She took a bowl from her bag and placed it on the rock. She then quickly dipped the fabric into the lava. Pulling it quickly over the bowl as it disolved into ash. She beamed proud of herself as she measured out 5 grams into a vial and corked it as well, placing it into her bag along with the other things.

She looked at her list, the last thing she needs was 30 pints of Angel brightness.... She flew back up to the mortal realm, her wings taking her there quickly. The flaps of her wings rustling as she looked around for some marker of an angels location, she noticed the presence not too far away, maybe 1 mile or so of one. After about a minute of flying she would land behind a rock, taking her large wings back into her back as she peered around. She saw one or two figures in the distance, Listening to them converse she heard one angel mention the scroll she sought out. The angel spat out annoyed to his friend. "Demons continue to be too nosy" He grumbled. "You think?" the other one retorted. "Well they could at least TRY to make our job a bit easier" the other one spat back, whilst rubbing one of his wings. "Freaking vice Demon flamed me earlier....need to feed on some mortals...you in? " He asked his companianan.

His companion shrugged and took off into the sky after his friend. All of a sudden she was knocked over and blinded by a flash of a flame Once the smoke cleared she looked up and saw a bright figure, which she quickly recognized to be another angel. She quickly got up to her feet and narrowed her eyes at the said angel. Brielle quickly used a flame strike growling in pleasure as it made contact. After impact the angel latched onto her and they both took off into the sky. The angel threw her across the sky as she went tumbling through a cloud. Tufts of it in her hair, Brielle fly out annoyed and tossed a couple of energy bolts at the angel. One unfortnately managed to be reflected back to her but her 2nd made contact, Her horns extended from her head as she hissed evilly. She pulled back and let a flame strike out from her palms which made contact with the angel, unfortunately they had both cast one at the same moment. The force tackling both of them out of the sky and hard into the ground below leaving small people shaped dents. They each climbed their way out and growled at each other. Brielle could tell however his mana was low and he was badly hurt. Brielle herself only had a few lacerations and bruises to her body and wings. She pulled back again this time using her battered assault, knocking him up against the cliff behind him as he struggled to get up.

She made her way towards him, but he attacked and she barely managed to dodge the flame he sent after her, her wing singed a bit as she blew it out rolling her eyes. Her flames hit harder anyway she hit him with another flame that knocked him out cold. Seeing the brightness leak from around his body, she used a small portable brightness tank she had managed to procure for herself. "30 pints.. " she said aloud and smiled adding the final ingredient to her bag. She only lacked one thing before she could retrieve the sword, which was the scroll that held the spell of unsealing. The Hell's commander said it could be found at the highest peak of the snowy mountain. She knew of one in the area, it was a long shot though if it was the same one, but was worth investigating. She took to the skies again and traveled several miles before landing on said peak. She looked around to see anything amiss or anything that might hint that something was hidden here. She saw a small patch of disturbed snow and tilted her head quizically. She used her talons to dig until her nails hit a lockbox. She smiled thinking this was progress.

Using her talon to jimmy the lock, the box sent out a shockwave which nearly stunned her as she groaned and saw in ancient language across the box. "Only someone who serves The Emperyan can open this." She sighed and thought for a bit. Her hands running through her brown hair as an idea came to her. She pulled a feather she had collected on a prior hunting trip from an angel she had slain. She took it and placed it into the lock and used the feather like a key, and much to her shock. The box flew open with a scroll in the middle. She quickly grasped it before the box could change its mind. Placing the scroll into her bag. She glanced back at the box and noticed another sheet of paper in the box, Looking over it she quickly realized it was a map to the location of the sword. Well... this made things a tad easier she mused and put that into her bag as well. She looked through to make sure she had everything... her spells.... potions.... sulphur...brightness... ash.. mandrake... spell... map.. Yep it was all there. She smiled.

Pulling the map back out to glance at it as she noticed the sword seemed to be... in a sanctuary of some sort. It wasn't horribly far but wasn't really close either.. She grumbled a bit and took back to the sky. Her wings helping her make good time as she flew toward her goal. It was around.. roughly in human standards.. maybe 150 miles away. She groaned and kept pushing herself. The clouds caressing her wings as she did a few barrel rolls. Landing gently she landed at her goal. The area was seemingly barren minus a few ruins and things here and there. It was surprisingly quiet for a place that was supposed to be max security.... She tensed up realizing that probably was not a great sign. She secured her bag to her making sure it wasn't readily visible and not easily torn from her.

She felt the temperature around her change. She didn't even need to turn around to know that at least 2 angels were behind her. She guessed at most there were maybe 4 overall that were guarding presently. She knew the odds were against her. But definitely too late to turn back around. She smirked softly, casting a reflect on herself before turning around. Her eyes came across two male angels looking rather...unhappy to see her. "Oh hey boys!" She chirped. "Lovely weather we are having." She gestured to the sky trying not to laugh as she screwed around with them, killing the time. The taller one narrowed his eyes and the smaller angel just burst out laughing before his companion just silenced him with an elbow to the stomach.

The obviously more mature of the pair spoke. "State your business, Demon." He stated in an authoritative tone. Bri sighed. "Speaking the pleasantries, are we gentlemen?" She mused. "What do you think I am here for?" She quipped, knowing she was dancing on that last nerve. The taller one sighed and a flame appeared in his hand. The smaller one, obviously the follower of the pair quipped "Shame, You kinda cute for a demon." The taller one shot back daggers at his companion for his remarks, giving Bri a small window of opportunity as she charged up her max spell power flame of her own using her pyrokinesis to briefly stun the tall one, she tossed a flame at him with a grin. Her attack hit him rather well, his left wing catching on fire and then smoking briefly blowing the ash and soot on his left side. His companion who was obviously the younger of the duo charged up an energy bolt which he threw quickly at her. She smirked as she heard the ping of it bouncing off her and hitting him back square in the stomach as it knocked him back again.

She smirked showing her pearly white teeth with two little fangs as she laughed ruefully at their suffering. She could tell though winded the stronger of the pair was charging up for another attack. She charged up another reflect then squeaked feeling the younger angel hit her with his second attack. She wiped around growling at her wasted reflect and went to flame him without hesitation. The older angel took this as an opportunity to use his 3rd attack on Bri. "It's why I appeal to both species" She laughed. Suddenly his attack hit, She flew back as she groaned feeling some of her blood leak from the spot before it healed a little. She knew that took a pretty little bit of her health and she groaned standing back onto her feet.

She sighed and looked to the pair. She knew she had to rethink her strategy. She sighed and flew up, pulling out 2 harm spells. They hit fast so she was able to throw one at the oldest first and the younger seconds after. The angels glared and flew up to the sky to join her. Bri used the minute or so in the space to cast another reflect on herself. She also took a few spare seconds to think on her plan from this point. It seemed the younger was much less of a threat so her main target needed to be the eldest. She smirked softly and then frowned realizing though that the younger's attacks might still get her weak enough to kill. She thought of a plan and smirked to herself. She charged up a spell and threw it to the eldest angel. She flew up a bit more to give her some time as she heard the chirp of her spell. The eldest angel groaned "Paralyze? Really?" Brielle grinned. This gave her a small window to start laying in on the younger one.

She waved to the angel quickly flying down towards the younger one. He was in the middle of casting a reflect. She rolled her eyes and hit him with her 3rd as she saw him jump. "HEY!!" He yelled in protest as he was knocked back against a ruin. She smirked knowing his spelled had fizzled. She charged up a spell and flew back up a bit as it flew at the younger angel. His right wing caught aflame and smoked as he ran around shrieking like a moron. She tilted her head and shook her head at his display. He must be an intern....She kept watching as she cast a reflect on herself. The young angel smacking into a wall knocking the wind out of him as she just stared wondering who the heck hired this one. She felt a gust of wind and smirked, knowing the eldest one's paralyze had worn off. She turned around and smiled. "Back for more?" She teased as she gasped seeing he had a dispel and threw it at her. She growled seeing the aura of her reflect fade as she rammed him with her 2nd attack. The Eldest one grunted a bit at the damage, but kept his wits "Demon you cannot win. You are outmatched and there are more angels... if we should fall.." Bri sighed and looked to him "2 more right?" She shook her head. "WHAT?!?! How did you... "She laughed and then tumbled back a bit as an energy bolt from the younger angel took her by surprise. It didn't take alot of damage. More so it startled her.

She rolled her eyes. Flying around in figures eights the angels watched her quizzically, getting a little dizzy. She smirked as she acted like she was gonna go for the younger. Dive bombing at him. She grinned and last minute threw another paralyze at the Older one throwing in a poison shortly after. She then turned to the younger one with an evil grin, she knew probably a flame and a few hits of her 1st attack and he was toast. She grinned and charged up a flame smirking as it left her hands hitting his other wing sending it up in smoke and covering him in soot. Brielle used her wings to fling the soot up into the air creating a cloud for her to hide in as she snuck up behind him. Being able to smell how weak he was. She hit him twice quickly with her 1st attack and smiled when he crumpled to the ground. She drug his unconscious form over to the side of the hill and kicked it so it rolled down and put some distance between the defeated angel and her.

As the dust settled she saw the older angel obviously peeved. Wasn't surprising... she had just defeated his companion. She took advantage of the little bit of shroudleft in the air to hit herself with another reflect. She knew her paralyze strategy was past and she smiled. Looking to her last standing foe presently. She charged up another flame as he did at the same time. She groaned knowing she had to waste another spell to hit him with an attack. She hit him with her 3rd sending him back a bit as she laughed. An energy bolt came out of the corner of her eye slamming her and sending her crashing back against a wall as she winced. Of course back up would come now... she growled seeing another 2 angels appear.... great 3 against one... she muttered rising to her feet. She raised a brow and smelled the air. She could tell the elder one was still weak. Her best bet was to distract the other two, take out the weak one, then split up the other two and pick them off individually.

She smirked and looked at the new pair, one female angel and another beefy male one. She mused and ran her tongue over her teeth with a sigh. She smirked and hit the female with a poison then threw a paralyze at the beefy one. Flying up she gasped and laughed. She groaned as she smacked into something though. Looking once the cloud cleared she saw the eldest angel. She smirked and he grasped her wrist trying to get ahold of her she grinned and finished charging up a flame which hit him square in the stomach. His grasp on her wrist though was rather tight so the blow sent them both crashing into the snow with a cloud of it flying up as they smashed into the earth below. Brielle groaned as she climbed out of the snow. Dirt, blood and snow and twigs here and there all over her. Ugh. She hated being dirty. She noticed the eldest angel crawling towards her trying to grasp at her ankle, she kicked her foot back kicking him in the nose as he screamed. She used this window to toss an energy bolt at him knocking him back into the hole as she peered in and smirked seeing him defeated. "2 down, 2 to go" She mused as a poison smacked her and caught her off guard.

She turned around glaring seeing the other two angels, who were livid by this point. She sighed and threw a 3rd attack at the one who attacked her, which was the female. It knocked her back a bit. "What, that your boyfriend or something? Pissed that I kicked his butt?" She teased as the female hissed at her and Bri rolled her eyes assuming she was correct in her assumptions. She felt a warmth spread over her renewing her strength a bit as she realized her attack had got her some health back and she giggled. She flew up and landed in some clouds, casting another reflect. She started flying back down and smirked feeling the glow around her that signaled her success. She flew at the beefy angel, smacking him several time with her 1st attack as she grinned. She noticed the female charge up with a flame. She rather slowly acted like she was gonna try to hit the female. The flame barreled towards Bri, but she smirked as she felt it bounce off and knock the female back against some trees.

She used this opportunity to cast another paralyze on the beefy angel and evaded up with a grin as she heard its chirp. She dive bombed the slightly disheveled female landing on top of her and smacking her several time with her 1st. The female shoved back against Bri hard knocking her back a bit. Bri smirked and threw an energy bolt at her which sent her back into the tree once more. This time splitting it in two. The female angel groaned and Bri smirked flying up high into the sky casting another reflect on herself. Chirping the spell cast. She grinned and felt again another flap of wings behind her. She face-palmed knowing it was the beefy angel. He growled at her throwing a flame in her face. It immediately reflected, throwing him back and into the snow. She laughed and shook her head at his impulsiveness. She felt the sting of a harm shortly after though. Narrowing her eyes she whipped around to come face to face with the female "You are really getting on my nerves, angel. "She hissed and smacked her back off her with a 2nd attack.

The beefy angel snuck up behind her trying to put her into a headlock. He was obviously more brawn then brains. She sigh and sent her elbow back into him knocking him back a bit as she hissed and threw a charged flame at him. It did much better than she anticipated, knocking him roughly against a ruin slumped over. She could see easily he was almost spent and threw a 2nd attack at him and laughed spitefully when he crumpled in defeat. She pursed her lips and tilted her head from side to side. Had been a bit easier than she thought. She giggled and then got thrown back into the ruins as well. The female angel, who was...by this point... a seething ball of rage. Hissed and held a flame in both hands. Bri pulled herself to her feet. "Alrighty alright! I understand you are mad.. but maybe we can discuss this?" She laughed. The female threw a flame into Bri's stomach as she crumpled over. Bri gasped feeling her blood was very low... But she couldn't lose.. she couldn't not when she was this freaking close... She groaned and put a reflect on herself using the cloud of snow that was flying around to shield the aura.

The female angel crept closer feeling her foe weak. Her arrogance beginning to show.. irony... some angels... still were cocky for being such goody goodies. The female angel charged up a flame and smirked. "I must ask you a question?" Bri chirped. "It seems fair since you about to defeat me.." She tried to appeal to that arrogance. The female angel nodded and sighed "Very well." she spoke in a high annoying tone. Bri winced at her valley girl like voice. "Do you know the saying what goes around comes around?" Bri asked. The female angel looked confused.. "What the heck are you talking about?" She hissed. Bri then spoke again this time talking to the angel as if she was stupid. "I said..... Do you know the AGES OLD, saying "What goes around comes around" She spat at the angel. The angel letting her anger overwhelm her screamed at Bri "Shut up" She threw the flame at Brielle and then screamed as it bounced and came back hitting her knocking her back into the broken tree.

She slumped over in defeat and Brielle bent over her frame and smirked whispering "What goes around comes around.... specially with reflects." She grinned using her heel to knock the angel down the hill with the first one. Bri held her hand to her own side taking a brief moment to catch her breath. She quickly also made sure her bag and its contents were safe. She sighed in relief seeing it to be so. She scanned the area, her ice blue eyes stopping upon a sword shaped etching on one of the ruins. She walked to it and bent down looking at it. She pulled all the ingredients out of her bag and placed them around her. The mandrake.. the brightness... The ash.... the sulphur... She pulled out a bowl from her bag. She carefully poured the brightness into it making sure not to get it on her skin. She took the mandrake into her hand crushing it into flakes which she poured into the bowl as well. Uncorking both the vials of sulphur and ash, she sprinkled them both into the bowl.

The color changed to a deep purple as she smiled. She pulled out the scroll from her bag. She read the words off the scroll. She then took the bowl and poured the mixture over the etching, watching it as it filled the outline and she repeated the spell one more time. The stone shook and disappeared into a slot in the ruin like a trap door. Her eyes came upon the sword and she gasped. Pulling a shroud from her bag, she used it to grab the sword.

She wrapped it gently around the sword and tied it pulling another scroll from her bag. A messenger spell. She wrote out a note which read as such "Dear Hell's commander, enclosed with this note is the item of your desire. It came with alot of work and effort. But I hope it finds you in good health and spirits. I look forward to your reply ~Bri." She grinned and sighed attaching the note to the ties. She chanted the sending spell and told the package to make haste to hell's commander. It started glowing and disappeared making it's journey. She smiled gathering her things and started the long flight home.
